A lot of hunters that are just starting out have a lot of questions, What kind of gun should I get? Where should I go hunting? What should I start out hunting? Do I need to buy lots of expensive gear to be a successful hunter? Luckily there is a lot of resources out on the internet that you can find some great information on.
On this post I will be answering some general basic hunting questions. As well I will post a few videos that I found extremely helpful in my start to hunting.
First thing is first, “What kind of gun should I get?”. This is a major question that almost every hunter asks himself. The first thing you should ask yourself when looking for a gun is “What am I going to hunt?”. If your hunting rabbits your not going to want to bring a bazooka. So look online and see what other hunters have used to hunt game of similar size. For everyone that is just starting out dear hunting here is a great video on choosing a gun for deer hunting.
Hope that video was helpful when considering what hunting rifle you would like to purchase. Going on to the next questions that a lot of beginner hunters have is what are some tips and tricks for hunting. Well I am going to let some experts handle this question and hopefully answer this question better then I can. Check out this video for 10 deer hunting tips.
That answer a few more of your questions and hopefully give you some good ideas?
Lastly, the most important thing to remember when trying to become a skilled hunter is that nothing beats experience. As you head out and start hunting make a list of things that have worked for you and things that have not. As you hunt more and more you are going to find better ways to hunt as well as learn the best places to hunt. Reach out to fellow hunter to see if they could teach you a bit about how they hunt. While most hunters are not going to give you the location of their favorite hunting spots, they may give you some past hunting spots that they no longer use anymore. Soon with enough practice and experience you will begin to develop a knack for hunting and have your own hunting spots that you don’t tell anyone about.
Lastly, remember to be ethical when hunting. Be aware of how you are hunting and to make sure that you are obeying all the hunting laws. Make sure that you are not hunting on private property without the owners permission. If you have questions on if you are hunting on private property look for any signs that are posted. There are tons of resources on land ownership, one of my favorite apps is Xhunt. This app allows you to view public vs private land as well as it has maps you can download to make sure you don’t get lost when your out hunting. As as always stay safe and have a great time hunting.
